I think a dog will wait a long time because it doesn't want to soil its home, not because it is comfortable waiting. It costs money to hire a dog walker, but it is better for the dog to have a mid-shift break while you work or are away than making them hold it. I have a walker who does a 15 minute visit to let my dog out.

It is very sad the number of people who want to be dog owners, but don't have an understanding of what it means to be a dog owner. Dogs are not play things. They are living being who need to be treated with love and respect, not as money makers.

Please don't buy from pet stores. Most of their dogs are from puppy mills. Please get a Heinz 57 from someone you know, or from a shelter.

Thank you for sharing this post. As for my opinion, these dog mills should never be operated. There are lots of dog mills that only look forward to the profit these dogs will bring, and not to the health of the dogs. Those who are planning to get puppies should check the background of the dog before actually taking them. Thanks again.

I have always adopted from a shelter. I have adopted dogs from age 6 months to 3 years. The potty training is done with the older dogs. I love all of my dogs, but my older adoptees seemed to appreciate being adopted and becoming part of our family.

Yes, I believe they do. I knew a heavy smoker who had a dog die from lung cancer. I always felt his smoking contributed to his dog, Sasha's death.
