Stay-Healthy Tips for You and Your Dog Fido & Me - Fitness Partners

Just like people, dogs need regular exercise & stimulation to keep them in tip-top shape,

both physically and mentally. Since dogs crave human companionship, who better to choose

as your exercise partner than your “Fido”?

You will need to bring a regular not a retractable leash (dogs must be on a leash, at all times),

a bottled water for you and your dog (if you have one, a collapsible doggie water bowl),  a pooper

bag or two, and about half a cup of training nibbles.

Remember we are not health care providers.

Prior to starting a fitness and/or weight control program

for overweight or under-conditioned humans or dogs,

we recommended you discuss health risks and/or conditions

that may restrict your, or your dog’s, activities

with your physician and your dog's veterinarian.

Frequent activity has a positive impact on Fido’s health as well as the health of humans.

Just like humans dog’s who are under-conditioned and/or overweight have many health risks.

Among these are heart disease, cancer, liver and kidney problems, diabetes, and skeletal weakening.

The bond between Fido and human encourages humans, because of their commitment to their dog,

to exercise more frequently and to lose more weight.  A key reason is the fitness partners

continue exercising when the formal program is completed because of the emotional

connection between the human and Fido.
